Le Conseil Interprofessionnel des Vins de Bordeaux , CIVB, has recently published the 2011 export figures for Bordeaux. And the figures are impressive and actually the highest ever. 2.16 million hectolitres of Bordeaux were exported during 2011, an increase from 2010 by 22% .

The value of the export has also increased, by 30%, to 1.97 billion euro. The explanations for these record high figures are the increasing demand from Asia and the recovery of the European economies. The EU countries account for 45 % of the export (in volume).
