David Furer

David Furer is a Californian residing for many years in England but now back in the US. David has 21 years in the wine trade and is the author of Wine Places (Mitchell Beazley 2005); a major contributor to the book Opus Vino/The Wine Opus (Dorling Kindersley), Tom Stevenson’s Wine Report (Dorling Kindersley), and Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Wine Book (Mitchell Beazley); a contributing editor and regular columnist with Somm Journal.

David also writes freelance for several magazines worldwide on wine, spirits, food, travel, and cigars. He has judged at several international wine competitions, consults to regional / national wine organizations in the Americas and Europe, and has been a member of the executive committee of FIJEV.

His qualifications include Certified Wine Educator, Advanced Sommelier, and Certified Sherry Educator.

Britt & Per’s take on David: David is a globe-trotting Californian (we guess also a dedicated surfer!) who has suffered (?) many years in England but is now in the (wine) desert in Texas.  He explores the remotest corners of the wine world, as if he is continually seraching for the wine that no one else has tasted!

Here are David’s articles:
