Wine Courses, Tastings and Wine Events
| Britt Karlsson has an extensive experience of
organizing and leading tastings, wine education classes and other wine
events. Since over fifteen years Britt organizes tastings, classes and events
around wine. She is currently also responsible for the wine education
program for the association of wine tasters "Munskankarna" in Brussels where
She teaches on both beginner's level and advanced courses.
I organize "traditional" wine tastings but can also do many other types of
events where wine and gastronomy is a theme. Here are some examples of events:
|
 |
Wine Tastings in Paris
I do wine tastings on a regular basis in English in Paris.
Participation is limited to 10 persons so book early. The tastings take place in
a brand new wine shop in central Paris, close to Les Halles. The price includes
5 wines and a selection of cheeses to nibble on.
I currently do not have any "public" scheduled tastings but will be happy to
do a custom tasting for you. The price for a custom tasting depends on, for
example, the number of people, the venue and the types of wines tasted.
Typically, a tasting for 10 persons with 5 good wines cost €35-45.
To book a place at a tasting, contact
info@bkwine.com.
I can also recommend that you take a look at my
wine tour
program.
Examples of other events I have done:
 | Wine fair (salon de vin) focused on Scandinavian producers of wine |
 | A "holistic" experience of wine: not just tasting wine, but also looking
at (smelling, tasting) things that are often mentioned in association with
wine: spices and herbs, roses, cigar boxes, tobacco, leather, raspberries,
black currants etc |
 | Tasting of oysters and wine |
 | Cheese and wine tasting |
 | How oak aging affects the wine |
 | Dîner Vincole - dinner with specially selected combinations of food and
wine with commentaries on the wines during dinner (
diner vinicole ) |
 | Day trips from Paris to Champagne, Chablis, Sancerre |
 | Guided tours of Montmartre with visits to the Montmartre vineyard and the
best wine bars on the hill |
 | Tour of the Paris region's vineyards (Montmartre, Parc de Bercy, Parc
George Brassens, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Meudon, Saint-Cloud,...) |
Wine Courses
I organize wine courses for beginners as well as
for experienced wine tasters.
Our wine courses are a structured way to learn more about tasting wine in
general or to get a deeper knowledge of a specific subject. But they are also
very much focused on the enjoyment of wine and its combination with food.
Our standard course modules are:
 | An introduction to wine and wine tasting - beginner's course |
 | Grape varieties and wine, wine making - intermediary |
 | Advanced wine tasting, deeper knowledge of the wine regions of France and
other countries |
Courses typically have around 15 participants and are spread out over four to
five sessions. Each session consists of 'theory' (lecture) and 'practice'
(tasting) and take 2-3 hours. Courses include documentation on the subjects
covered.
We can also do higher level courses or special-purpose seminars.
All courses are adapted to the specific requests of the groups.
Scandinavian Wine Fair in Paris
I have organized the Scandinavian Wine Fair in Paris. In 2004 it brought
together 37 Scandinavians making wine in nine different countries.
See the Wine Fair pages here.
Custom designed events
We
can make a custom designed event for you according to your requests. It can be an
evening with friends that you invite to your home to learn more about French
wines.
Or it can be a customer event in the office or in any other place of
your choice. It can also be a good occasion for you to meet customers and
discuss informally, or a way to make a team work better together by getting to
know each other at an occasion that has nothing to do with work. Or maybe you
want to fly the management board to an off-site location and visit some of the
premier Grand Cru Classés in Bordeaux while discussing the future strategy of
the company... ( grand cru classe )
Come examples of custom events:
 | A bank has a conference for customers in Paris and wants to have a dinner
one evening on the theme of wine and food. Britt organizes with a typical
Paris brasserie a special menu with selected wines and gives commentaries
throughout dinner |
 | Wine tasting at the Cercle Suédois on the theme "which are the
undiscovered great wines of France" |
