Wine ToursWine Tours to European wine regions
BKWine has organised over 100 wine tours throughout France and across Europe. Travelling in wine country is the best and most enjoyable way of learning about wine, how it is made, how to taste it and how to appreciate it. Meeting the producers is a captivating experience that can be anything from an insight into a small family enterprise with a passionate wine maker talking about his wines to an impressive visit to an industrial installation with the latest technical equipment and marketing resources. We always travel in small groups, typically 12-18 people, to guarantee a personal experience, translating from French (or Italian, or German...) as needed. On GoEurope About.com:

| October 8-12: Bordeaux |
For a wine lover a trip to Bordeaux is a must! Here you find world famous châteaux and world famous wines but also a lot of new exciting initiatives (less famous but maybe more important for the future of Bordeaux!) and young enthusiastic wine makers. More info!
| October 22-26: Douro Valley, Portugal |
Douro is one of the world’s most famous wine rivers. Here, in this dramatically beautiful landscape in northern Portugal, grapes are grown on steep, terraced slopes. The climate is dry and hot and the grapes are picked perfectly ripe. These grapes are made into port wine and increasingly into a full bodied, tasty red table wine. More info!
Champagne... Luxury, celebration and of course excellent wines. But champagne is not just wines. There is also an outstanding gastronomy that we will pay special attention to on this trip. We will visit some world famous champagne houses and some small high-quality family producers. And we will enjoy the Champenoise gastronomy at our dinners (in a one-star restaurant!) and at the lunches, some of which will be with, and as guests of, champagne producers. Is drinking champagne all through a meal a good idea? Decide for yourself! More info!
Here are the dates for the spring tours 2009. We will soon publish the detailed program. Please come back.

February 11-15: Truffle, wine, duck and foie gras in the south west of France | |
|
March 25-29: Alentejo in Portugal, one of the most exciting and modern Portuguese wine regions |
During 2007 we organised some 25 tours. We do tours in English, but also in Swedish and in Finnish (and we can also do it in Spanish, German or Norwegian).
In 2007 we had tours to a wide range of wine regions. To give you some examples, and starting from the west: Alentejo in Portugal; Catalonia with Priorato (Priorat) in Spain; in France we did Bordeaux, Loire, the Languedoc, Champagne, Chablis, Burgundy, the Rhone Valley, and Provence; Tuscany in Italy; and Wachau and Rust in Austria. In 2008 we will add the Douro valley in Portugal; Veneto in Italy; Mosel, Rheingau and Pfalz (Palatinate) in Germany; and the French Sud-Ouest (South West) with Madiran and Bergerac, and Alsace.
If you want to go there we can organise it!

About the wine estates we visit
We
want you to experience the best and the most interesting estates.
Therefore, we put a lot of effort into finding really good producers to
visit. Contrary to what one might think, the most exciting wine
producers are not always the "famous names", the Grand Crus or
the most prestigious "houses". Often the passionately engaging visits
happen when you meet the winemaker or the owner himself (or quite often
herself) and his family.
Frequently, detailed discussions get underway where a true understanding of how things really “work” develops, we may even stay and have lunch at the winery (unlike in the US many of these do not have purpose-built restaurants). This is also why our trips do not have large numbers of visits on the programme. Even so, we regularly run short of time due to conversations lasting a lot longer than intended and where more and more wines are brought out to taste, somehow time flies.
Our trips are usually a mixture of small family producers and larger, well known wine estates - carefully selected to give you the unique wine experience.
What will you remember the most: the charming winery staff guide with perfect English, or the passionate winemaker who won't let you go until you've tasted yet another of his wines?
We also create wine tours specifically to your requirements, perhaps for you and a group of your friends, colleagues, business associates or customers... The tours can be focused on wine only or can be combined with other things such as golf, cultural visits, three-star restaurants, gastronomic visits (cheese making, foie gras producers, oyster farms, sausage and ham production) for example.
We work with "amateur" wine lovers and with professionals - wine importers, sommeliers, restaurateurs, wine journalists... We can do all levels: "just for fun and pleasure" to highly specialised and advanced educational tours.
