Champagne, Chablis and Burgundy
3 Classic French wine regions!
June 11-15
Sample program - Previous wine tour
This trip will take you from Paris to three of the most famous French wine
regions: Champagne, Chablis and Burgundy. In just a few days you will get to
taste and learn about some of the top French wines!
We will meet in Paris at the Gare de Lyon train station (centrally located in
Paris) Wednesday afternoon on the 11th of June. Our bus will take us from Paris,
first to Reims in Champagne, where we will stay one night and then continue the
next day to Chablis where we will also stay one night. The following day we will
continue down to Beaune, in the middle of Côte d’Or, the heart of Burgundy,
where we will stay two nights. After breakfast on Sunday morning, the 15th of
June, we will leave Beaune and head back to Paris. We will be back in Paris
around 1 p.m on Sunday May 21.
The wines of Champagne don’t need an introduction. On this trip you will get
the opportunity not only to taste a number of the most interesting champagnes
but you will also get to meet the people behind the wine and learn about how
champagne is made – few wines need so much work and effort to make as champagne.
Among French top quality white wines Chablis is in a class of its own, it’s
freshness and purity is unique and famous all over the world. It is one of the
world’s most imitated wines.
In Côte d’Or, the “golden slope” of Burgundy, the wines are literally
sometimes worth their weight in gold. Here le terroir is really fundamental and
in no other district has the soil been analysed to such an extent and classified
in so much detail in numerous appellations. Being there will give you a good
understanding of why.
A quick look at the program:
Wednesday June 11
16.00 (4 pm) Departure by bus from Paris Gare de Lyon (75012 Paris)
After a 2-hour drive we will reach Reims, the capital of Champagne and you
will have the evening off to explore the city on your own.
Thursday June 12
Champagne
We will visit two interesting Champagne producers and we will have lunch at
a Champagne House in the Côte des Blancs, famous for its high-quality “Grand
Cru” Chardonnay-grapes.
In the afternoon we will depart for Chablis where we arrive late afternoon.
Evening free. Even though Chablis is a small town with only 2000 inhabitants,
there are a number of good restaurants, from one-star to simple bistro.
Friday June 13
Chablis
We will visit two high-quality producers in Chablis (e.g. Domaine Jean-Marc
Brocard, Domaine des Maronniers, Domaine Laroche) and you will of course have
the possibility to buy their wines.
In the afternoon we will depart for Beaune, famous for its wines but also
for the beautiful Hôtel Dieu, built in 1438. Here we will stay for 2 nights.
Saturday June 14
Burgundy - Côte d’Or
On Saturday we’ll start the day by going north to the vineyards of Côte de

and Gevrey-Chambertin. After a visit to a quality conscious small, independent
family grower in Côte de Nuits we will have lunch in a beautifully situated
wine estate in the Côte de Beaune. We will spend the afternoon in the Côte de
Beaune, in villages like Pommard, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet… After
visiting growers in these villages we will be back in Beaune early evening and
you can continue to explore Beaune on you own.
Sunday June 15
Departure for Paris after breakfast. We will reach Gare de Lyon around 1
p.m.
To assure that our visits are of high quality and that we get a personal
welcome we will be a group of not more than approx. 18 participants.

experience.
To ensure that we receive a truly personal welcome the maximum group size

Our wine guides: Our wine guides are enthusiastic wine people with a thorough
knowledge of both wine and local culture and gastronomy. Plus, of course,
language since some of the visits often are in the local language (those visits
are often the most interesting ones actually!) and we will then translate to
English.
Our wine cellar tours are usually planned around a long weekend (Wednesday
evening to Sunday morning) so that you can plan your holiday to also include
other activities, such as visiting cultural sites, play golf – or why not drop
in to a few more wineries while in the region (we’ll be glad to give you a few
names to our preferred vinyards!).
From a gastronomic standpoint, our tours always include some gourmet
highlights with local culinary specialities – we often plan at least one gourmet
lunch at a winery or vinyard together with the winemaker.
Plan your wine country vacation with BKWine and we can guarantee you an
unforgettable wine experience.
