Vienne
Vienne is a town at the northern end of the Rhone valley vineyards. It can
be a base for wine excursions and have a few (but not many) hotels and
restaurants.
La Pyramide
is one of the historic places in gastronomic France. It was long run by
Fernand Point, and his wife after his death, and counted as one of the
very top restaurants in the country
And this is
the pyramid: a vestige from Roman times when it was used as a turning
point in a sports arena
The street
is now named after the famous chef!
This rather
impressive ruin is on the 'Mont Salomon' and is the ruins of the
episcopal Chateau de la Batie. You have a good view from Mont Pipet...
...where you
also have a good view of the Roman theatre and of Vienne itself
Restaurant
Le Bec Fin - one of the best restaurants in town
Restaurant
Le Restique - the cheese is a must
Restaurant
La Taverne de Maitre Kanter - restaurants belonging to a chain are not
always engaging but this one has a very impressive lobster tank and a
very enthusiastic personnel
