Some members of the co-operative coming and delivering their grapes A small van for a small 'cooperateur' The co-operative uses what was previously a church as a winery.  This is some very old vats in the attic under the arched roof In a corner, some old wine bottles of sweet wine A look down into one of the concrete wine fermentation vats in the process of being cleaned out

You can see the small entrance hole where the wine goes out and the cleaning man goes in The vineyards of Collioure are on steep hillsides and therefore you need to terrace the ground To build these walls, without mortar, just by piling the stone, is a very specialised skill that only a few 'artisan' know how to do A vine pruned in 'gobelet' A view from the vineyards over the Collioure village

There is a very thin layer of topsoil before the rock starts In the vineyards you find these "ditches", a bit less than a meter wide and a bit more than 1m deep. They are there to drain of the water from the torrential rains. But they are also a great danger to the vineyard workers, should they accidentally fall into one The vineyards and the village. The slopes are steep. You don't want to have too inexperienced pickers (or too much wine for lunch) should they loose their footing   A very ripe bunch of grapes

A refraktometer used to measure sugar contents (=potential alcohol) Computerised... A closer look at the left-over stems Must sprayed into a fermentation tank Another floor in the ex-church cuverie. This is on top of the currently used concrete fermentation tanks

A peek down into one of the wine tanks: the marc When someone is cleaning out a tank you have to make sure that he gets air and is not suffocated by the released CO2, so this is a fan to push air into the tank A filter of not the latest model Some old storage 'cuves' for the sweet wine on the top floor Some old wine bottles gathering dust...
