Les Lauriers Beaujolais de la Photo - The world's first international food and wine photo competition. It is sponsored by the Beaujolais grower's association, hence the name. The first edition of this competition is currently well on its way (June 2004). The competition has two phases. First, a jury of a dozen invited photography and/or wine and food personalities evaluated the initial submissions by the photographers. Some 40 dossiers had been received from a dozen countries. The jury then nominated one photographer from each country to represent his/her country of origin in the second phase - the "final". In the second phase each photographer will be asked to submit a dossier on a given theme. The submitted photographs will be made available to the public on a web site in the autumn of 2004. The public will be invited to visit this site and give votes. The voting will continue until January 25, 2005. So it is the public who will make the decision, by its web voting, who will be the winner. The winner will be announced on January 25 at the international cooking competition Boucuse d'Or in Lyon.

These pictures give a glimpse of the first phase of the competition.
