Large quantities of sparkling
wine is also produced in the Loire valley. The production is centred
around the city of Saumur. Some of the main producers are: Ackerman,
Gratien & Meyer, Veuve Amiot, Langlois-Chateau etc. |

The Ackerman cellars are in an impressive
old quarry. Today production has mode to modern facilities but you can
still visit the old cellars |
A secondary fermentation in bottle gives a
depot, as you can see here. This is removed by the 'dégorgement' |
