Jacquesson was founded in 1798. Today it belongs to the Chiquet family who bought it in 1974 after an extended period of decline. Jean Chiquet knew he wanted it to become one of the top houses when he bought it though.Today it is run by his two sons. Their "standard" cuvee is one of the best and is unusual in that it is almost a vintage champagne. They give it a new number every year (to indicate that it is a different blend) and it contains about 60% of wine from one vintage. It is equally unusual in that it is partially fermented in oak.
