Blanchot
grand cru has an excellent exposure, south, facing the sun. The very hot
and dry summer of 2003 this was not necessarily an advantage. Some of
the grapes directly facing the sun shrivelled already early August
Also the
leaves dried up.
If they
had done 'effeuillage' (removing of the leaves to give the grapes better
sun exposure) earlier in the summer they probably regretted it now
Makes
you wonder how a Chablis grand cru passerillé would taste
But far
from all grapes were affected so severely by the sun and heat. This is a
perfectly healthy Chardonnay bunch even if a little shrivelling is
starting
