Chateau Thieuley, Bordeaux

Château Thieuley Chateau Thieuley is located close to the village La Sauve Majeure in the middle of the big district called Entre-deux-Mers. Most of the wines in this region is sold with the appellations Bordeaux or Bordeaux Supérieur and so is Chateau Thieuley. Francis Courselle is the person who made this wine estate famous. He took over after his father, André, as winemaker in 1972. André had bought the chateau in the 1940s. At the time it had 3 hectares of vines but now the surface area has been extended to around 100 ha. When Francis toook over he started making a lot of investments, modernisaitons and replantings. He has also taught oenology at the University of Bordeaux and is an established expert in white wines. He was (and is) one of the people who have fought hard to reestablish the good reputation of white Bordeaux wine - and he has succeeded well. Now he is appraching a well deserved retirement and the domaine is mainly run by his two daughters, Sylvie and Marie, both trained oenologists	Château Thieuley Château Thieuley ligger nära La Sauve Majeure ungefär mitt i det stora område som kallas Entre-deux-Mers. Här säljs de flesta vinerna med appellationerna Bordeaux eller Bordeaux Supérieur, så ock Château Thieuley. Francis Courselle är den som gjorde slottet känt och respekterat. När Francis tog över satte han igång en mängd investeringar, moderniseringar och nyplanteringar. Francis undervisar dessutom i önologi vid universitet i Bordeaux och är något av en expert på vita viner. Han var en av dem som kämpade för att återge de vita Bordeaux-vinerna ett gott rykte (och han lyckades dessutom!). Nu är han på väg att gå i pension och döttrarna, båda utbildade önologer, har tagit över.
