Château La Grave Figeac, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru
A small wine property, as is common in Saint Emilion, of only 6 hectares of vines, but one that is moving upwards on the wine quality scale. It is situated strategically between two more famous wine estates: the Chateau Cheval Blanc and the Chateau La Conseillante (Pomerol). Excellent wines.

Apparently Bouttes makes different kinds of barrels, this one being called Grande Reserve

This thing is ... a device for making microbullage (micro-oxygenation). It is put inside a tank and slowly releases small bubbles of oxygen

It is supposed to make the tannins rounder

And, surprise, some Chasselas in the vineyard
040917-135-3527.jpg
The few vines of Chasselas there is are a vestige of old plantations. They are used as table grapes by the family. Very tasty!

And Muscat Noir!. Also something left from a previous period when grape selection was more surprising or liberal
