Château Carignan, 1ère Côtes de Bordeaux
Chateau Carignan is a well preserved castle from
the 15th century. It was built by a fighting comrade to Jeanne d'Arc. The
current owner, Philippe Pieraerts, bought the property in 1981. Ecologic
wine production with their own Limousin cows to produce natural fertiliser. Well
structured, spicy wines and a good cuvee prestige, Prima, made since 1998.
But be careful if you plan to go there. We had
scheduled a visit since long and reconfirmed a few days in advance just to make
sure. But when we arrive not a single soul is there and no one is answering the
phone... And not a word from them since in spite of us trying to contact
them... Not a place we plan to visit again ! Gone fishing ?
