Wine tour to the South of France

Costières de Nîmes, Côtes-du-Rhône och Languedoc!

5img011     7img001     1img005

Take a brake for a long weekend and greet spring time in the South of France, while meeting some of the future stars of French winemaking. During the four days we will visit three different wine regions!

Our base is Nîmes, close to the Mediterranean but not more than three hours away from Paris. Here you can find some of France’s most exceptional ruins from Roman times: the Arena and the Maison Carrée, just to mention two. This gives us a comfortably short distance to our chosen regions.

We meet in Nîmes on the evening of March 3 (you arrange your own travel to Nîmes). Over the following three days we will visit two to three wine producers each day.

8img007In Coteaux du Languedoc we will visit, among others, Château Puech-Haut where Gerard Bru over the last 15 years has created one of the most esteemed properties in Languedoc, and Domaine de la Coste in Saint Christol where Luc Moynier has become an expert at producing outstanding wines from the Mourvèdre grape thanks to low yields.

Costières de Nîmes has made enormous progress over the last few years and among those we will visit is Château Mourgues de Gres that has been much appreciated for its high quality wines and become something of a favourite at the wine bars in Paris. We will also stop at Mas de Bressades where Cyril Marès’s fairly small property (22 hectares) first became known for his vin de pays-wines made from Cabernet and Syrah. Recently he has also started to produce more ‘classic’ AOC wines.

5img014We are not far away from the Southern part of the Rhone valley with its famous Pont du Gard Roman aqueduct. Close by we will visit one of the most interesting cooperatives in France: Caves des Vignerons d’Estezargues. The make some very good wines at still affordable prices.

To assure that our visits are of high quality and that we get a personal welcome we will be a group of not more than around 18 participants.

Contact me if on email or phone if you have any questions or if you want more details about the tour. The full and detailed program will be available at a later date.

Send me an email if you want information about my wine tours in the future or if you want to receive my free monthly newsletter on wine.
