Wine Tour to the heart of Burgundy: Côte d’Or

img001     img050     img012

Over the course of three days we will get a very close look at the heart of Burgundy: la Côte d’Or de Bourgogne, the golden slope. The wines from here are literally sometimes worth their weight in gold.

Our visits will give you a good insight in all the important aspects of Burgundy wines: soil and geology, viticulture, and vinification. And they will also illustrate the different philosophies and different approaches that winemakers have. Bourgogne is really where it is fundamental with ‘terroir’ and where it is vital to be able to tell a good winemaker from a poor. And in no other district has the soil been analysed to such an extent and classified in numerous appellations. Being there will give you a good understanding of why.

img020We will visit both some of the established producers and some of the rising stars. We will make three wine grower visits per day. The first day is dedicated to Côte de Nuits and the second to Northern Côte de Beaune. The third day we will spend in Southern Côte de Beaune.

We will meet with growers such as Domaine Bertagna in Vougeot, Domaine Guyon in Vosne-Romanée, Rossignol-Trapet in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Dujac in Morey-Saint-Denis, Vincent Girardin in Santenay, Olivier Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet, and Vincent Prunier in Auxey-Duresses.

To assure that our visits are of high quality and that we get a personal welcome we will be a group of not more than around 18 participants.

img045Contact me if on email or phone if you have any questions or if you want more details about the tour. The full and detailed program will be available at a later date.

Send me an email if you want information about my wine tours in the future or if you want to receive my free monthly newsletter on wine.
