Book Awards #2, almost…: Gourmand Awards nominations for two of our books

We almost won an award (or two!) in the international Gourmand Awards (Gourmand International World Cookbook Awards) but not quite. We are still very proud to have been nominated to the international finals with two of our books. A bit like being nominated to the Academy Awards (Oscars) for film stars… (No other parallels between wine writers and film stars though, certainly not what concerns wealth generation.)

Our book Biodynamic, Organic and Natural Winemaking, published by Floris Books in the UK, was nominated in the category “Best Wine Books for Professionals”. I think that goes quite a bit to underline all the research that lies behind the book and all the facts and information that you will find in it! The book is a through overview of the various “environmental friendly” wine-growing and wine-making methods, primarily organics.

Our second (!) nomination was for Vinlandet Frankrike, Trend och Tradition (France, the Country of wine, Trend and Tradition). This was in the category “Best Drinks Education Book” which again we take as a very good sign that they jury appreciated the depth and breadth of the contents in the book. The book is mainly an introduction to the French wine regions. But it also gives a lot of background and information to France’s position in the world of wine today and on the world market.

Consolation

A consolation, as if that was needed, for “only” having been nominated, and a very good one is that both books have previously been awarded honours that we are very proud of:
